Bio

Hammad Ather received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Oregon in 2025, where he was co-advised by Dr. Hank Childs and Dr. Allen D. Malony. His dissertation was titled "Towards End-to-End I/O Analysis and Optimization of HPC Systems." He received his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (FAST-NU) in 2018. His research interests include high-performance computing, machine learning performance optimization, storage systems, I/O optimization, and performance portability, with a focus on end-to-end analysis, visualization, and optimization of parallel I/O performance in scientific and AI/ML workloads. He collaborated with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory on projects aimed at detecting and addressing I/O bottlenecks in large-scale computing environments. He is currently a Research Scientist at Meta.
